Metallized Labels
Metallized labels are made from metal-coated paper or polyester film face stocks. Paper-based metallized material gives economical shine on packaging used in dry conditions; polyester-based silver matte is more resistant to abrasion and heat, so it is also preferred for technical labels and serial number applications.
For thermal transfer printing on metallized faces, a resin ribbon is recommended. For colorful brand labels, flexo or digital printing is combined with a white underprint so that the metallic effect shows only where intended; the surface can be protected with varnish or lamination.
